14 February 2023: An Online Course Born in the Pandemic – The Blended Learning Course from Eduardo Mondlane University

Session Description:

The EdTech-UEM project is a collaboration between colleagues in the Centro de Informatica (IT Division) at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) and the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) at University of Cape Town. One of the key outcomes of the collaboration for professional development is an online course for educators at Eduardo Mondlane University which integrates learning about online and blended learning design, pedagogy, and educational technologies (mostly Moodle). The Course in Blended Learning has implications well beyond UEM because the English and Portuguese language materials are available as OER for use anywhere. Brenda Mallinson, Vali Issufo and Leila Omar from the EdTech-UEM team will tell the story of the redesign and development of the online course across two languages from an initial series of lab based workshops before the pandemic, and will share feedback and reflections from the pilot at UEM.
