Dr Karen Ferreira-Meyers is the Coordinator Modern Languages/Linguistics of the Institute of Distance Education (University of Swaziland) since October 2010. Before that she ran the Department of Modern Languages at the same University. She obtained various qualifications: MA Romance Philology, Honours Portuguese, Post-Graduate Diploma Translation, MA Linguistics, LLM Degree, PhD in French. She has published several articles, participates regularly in international conferences. Apart from her professional interest in language acquisition, distance and e-learning, and general pedagogical aspects of teaching and learning, she has a keen interest in translation, interpreting, Francophone, Anglophone and Lusophone contemporary fiction (in particular autofiction and crime fiction).
