The presentation appeared to take the traditional approach to work as a point of departure, according to which, work means going to an office and working within a prescribed time frame. However, even within academia in Africa, work is increasingly becoming more ubiquitous. Work is no longer defined strictly in terms of physical space and regimented “working hours, say 8-5.
How can this framework or model be applied to this changing work picture to determine workload?

Every work done has time attached. the way you use the time depends on the institutional and national policies. It is not compulsory that the 8 hours per day must be a continuum. What is important is the number of hours put into official activities. This is where the policy on flexibility would apply.
