My name is Jerome Dooga. I teach English with technology at the University of Jos, Nigeria. But what is especially useful in my profile as far as this first seminar is concerned, is that I was awarded the first eLearning Fellowship at the University of Jos. To date, the eLearning Fellowship programme has produced 31 fellows, academic staff in various disciplines who have been equipped with the skills and tools to effectively teach with technology. At this seminar, we will provide insight into this approach to staff training and capacity building, especially in the light of using technology for teaching at an African Higher Educational Institution. So, I welcome you again and hope you will fully participate in the proceedings.
We came to the END OF DAY 1. In this forum, Jerome Dooga welcomed everyone. He teaches English with technology at the University of Jos, Nigeria. Jerome was the first recipient of an eLearning Fellowship (Oct ’08 – Sep ’09) at Jos and 30 others followed suit. In this seminar, Jerome presents the Jos model for staff training and capacity building in technology for teaching. Frida, Simon-Peter, Jolanda, Thula, Luis and Sipho look forward to learn more about the use of ICT for teaching and learning in african HEI.
