I experimented with Facebook in a f2f level 3 Semantics course with an enrollment of nearly 200. It was a closed Facebook page, which means that only approved members of the course could be part of the page. Response from the class was extremely poor,even though nearly all members of the class were active on Facebook, outside the course page. Some students who were interviewed commented that for them, Facebook was a space to hangout with peers and ‘feel free,’ not a space where their lecturer would be looking over their shoulder.
